Field Technician

Position Summary

• The responsibilities of a field technician include but are not limited to taking photos of utility poles, surveying utility poles, uploading photos to the company database, operating work vehicles between various job sites, and operating equipment on and off site (ie. cameras, measuring poles, laptops).

Position Description

• The Field Technician works primarily in the field, to gather data for engineering and design of aerial, underground, and buried fiber optic facilities.
• This position requires frequent travel. Work vehicles, lodging, and amenities are all covered by the company.
• Although this position predominantly involves field work, it will also require completion of administrative tasks as required by project leadership.
• Based on experience, skill level, and project needs, there is a potential for this position to move over into more complex field data collect and/or engineering.

Accountability

• The Field Technician is expected to operate as a part of a team.
• They directly report to their Field Manager.
• The Field Technician is required to maintain strong team relationships by working closely with their Field Manager during the design document preparation phase of the project.

Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of the Field Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform inspections on man/hand-holes, pedestals, and building entrance terminals, audits, and document findings.
• Visual pole inspections, looking for and making note of existing violations and potential make-ready for future attachments.
• Field survey of proposed fiber route, collecting field information necessary to complete pole attachment applications and/or buried installation applications.
• Aerial and underground make ready surveys; outside plant route selection and verification.
• Identifies essential materials and tools to carry out scope of work.
• Perform and/or supervise a feasibility walk to determine whether the proposed route may be properly constructed according to quality and technical standards.
• Prepare and update site status reports, databases, and project forecast reports.

Qualifications

• This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• A valid drivers license and clean driving record are required.
• We would prefer the Field Technician to have knowledge and experience with telecommunications, outside plant engineering, and construction.
• Above all else, we are looking for a candidate with an eagerness to learn as we are willing to train those who are new to the trade but have a desire to develop a career in a growing industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
